Thousands upon thousands of miles of rope are produced each year. After a short life span, climbing ropes cannot be used for human load-bearing purposes. It is made from nylon and synthetic blends which make recycling difficult. However, we found a company who has removed the interwoven recyclable elements from the rope, and uses the sheath to create dog accessories. The rope still retains more strength than needed for leashes and remains ‘dynamic’, so it stretches when force is applied, allowing you and your dog a comfortable pull. Remarkably, a long-term purpose has replaced the short term and reduced perpetual waste.
